Managing Director, UK & Ireland
At the heart of our success are our people. We take great care in the type of people we recruit to become recruiting experts with 9 out of 10 people joining us without any recruitment experience. You should consider a career at Hays if you are a determined, self-confident, passionate individual keen to be highly successful in a fast paced and competitive environment.
I joined as an associate having previously graduated in law and worked as trainee chartered accountant. As you can probably discern from this I wasn’t certain what career I wanted and this may be familiar to you. I did know that I wanted to be successful and that I wanted a job which provided a challenging yet supportive environment where I could learn a multitude of tasks and take control of my earnings. I wasn’t disappointed and have loved my job ever since!
Like many people in Hays I progressed my career quickly eventually moving to Australia to lead our very successful business and expand it into Asia. Now I am back leading our UK & Ireland business and I hope my story helps you to consider whether you can be successful at Hays.
You can be guaranteed that you will receive the best training, coaching and personal development the industry can provide. We can offer unrivaled career opportunities across the UK, Europe and further afield. You can expect to be leading your own team of consultants within two years of joining us or faster still if you are exceptional. Almost all of our leadership team themselves joined Hays as associates and we therefore have a wealth of experience across all aspects of our business.
These are the facts.

Over 9,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour each year and brain tumours are the largest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. Between 2013 and 2015, Hays partnered with the Brain Tumour Charity with a goal of raising £100,000 for research.
The Brain Tumour Charity’s mission is to fund and promote research to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours and ultimately find a cure. The organisation is the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours in the UK and leads the way in ensuring that all research funded is selected through stringent, independent peer review.
The Charity offers a comprehensive service to enable everyone with a brain tumour, their families and carers to receive the best support and information and achieve the highest quality of life possible as well as raising awareness of brain tumours to improve life chances.
Over the course of the two year partnership Hays raised £245,000 to fund a new centre of excellence and vital research for the UK’s leading charity dedicated to fighting this devastating disease.
To reach this target Hays staff tackled the four elements in a weekend of challenges, abseiled down cliff faces and even raised £30,000 racing their clients around the Olympic velodrome. Our competitive spirit was out in force at charity netball and football tournaments across the country, while quiz nights and local events with friends, family and customers added valuable funds to the £245,000 total.
Hays’ charity partner from August 2015 is Together for Short Lives, the leading UK charity for all children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and all those who support, love and care for them.
There are an estimated 49,000 children and young people in the UK living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, which means they may need palliative care. There are some wonderful and committed professionals who provide it across the UK working in some inspirational places – in the family home, in hospitals, community settings and in the UK’s 53 children’s hospices.
Our goal is to raise enough money to fund 6,000 hours of care for seriously ill children and their families at children’s hospices across the UK. This means raising £120,000 over the two-year partnership.
We will be doing a range of things to reach the total, including challenging fundraising activities like sponsored bike rides, cake sales and family fun days.
