Managing Director, Europe
At the heart of our success are our people. We take great care in the type of people we recruit to become recruiting experts with 9 out of 10 people joining us without any recruitment experience. You should consider a career at Hays if you are a determined, self-confident, passionate individual keen to be highly successful in a fast paced and competitive environment.
I joined as an associate having previously graduated in law and worked as trainee chartered accountant. As you can probably discern from this I wasn’t certain what career I wanted and this may be familiar to you. I did know that I wanted to be successful and that I wanted a job which provided a challenging yet supportive environment where I could learn a multitude of tasks and take control of my earnings. I wasn’t disappointed and have loved my job ever since!
Like many people in Hays I progressed my career quickly eventually moving to Australia to lead our very successful business and expand it into Asia. I came back to lead our UK & Ireland business in 2012 and I now run Europe, having relocated to Spain. I hope my story helps you to consider whether you can be successful at Hays and gives you an idea of what #YourHaysStory could be.
You can be guaranteed that you will receive the best training, coaching and personal development the industry can provide. We can offer unrivaled career opportunities across the UK, Europe and further afield. You can expect to be leading your own team of consultants within two years of joining us or faster still if you are exceptional. Almost all of our leadership team themselves joined Hays as associates and we therefore have a wealth of experience across all aspects of our business.
These are the facts.

We know that Hays is a great place to work and other people think so too. We are proud to have been recognised by our employees, past and present, as the #1 Employer of Choice within the Recruitment industry.
At Hays we pride ourselves on fostering a culture that gives undergraduates the freedom to succeed and enables them to fulfil their full potential. We have now been placed in the Top 50 Undergraduate Employers for five years running and we are the only recruiter to be listed in the Top 100.
We consider this award a particular achievement because it is determined purely by student-written reviews. Our successful intern programme has contributed hugely to the successful feedback we have had, with many returning to Hays after completing their studies as a result of their positive experience with us.
At Hays, we’re passionate about placing people in a role where they can flourish and succeed. By valuing equality, diversity and inclusion, we’re better informed to find the right job to transform a person’s life and the right person to transform an organisation.
We are delighted to have achieved the National Equality Standard (NES), the UK’s most rigorous and prestigious accreditation for equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I). Hays is one of only 20 UK organisations nationwide to be accredited. It recognises our long-term commitment to developing a meritocratic, open and honest culture – we want the best and brightest to flourish at Hays, regardless of background.
Since we signed up to the NES over two years ago, we have undertaken new projects and initiatives, and strengthened existing ones, to build an even stronger culture of ED&I. Diversity is integral to everything we do and we will continue on our diversity journey.
We have been voted by our employees as the Best Large Company for Graduates to Work for as part of TheJobCrowd’s annual Top 100 Graduate Employers.

TheJobCrowd Awards are based solely on the input of our employees, who rate aspects including training and career progression opportunities, company culture and enjoyment of the job.
We have been voted 7th company overall and the #1 recruiter in the awards.
The Candidate’s Choice Awards for the 2017 Best Places to Interview are based on the input of candidates looking to join Hays who have voluntarily provided anonymous feedback over the past year about their interview experience, duration and the level of interview difficulty.
Hays is the only recruitment company listed in the top 50 best undergraduate employers in the UK.”
Hays has been named in the UK’s Top 100 Undergraduate Employers and is the only recruiter to be listed for 2019/2020.
Based solely on reviews from RateMyPlacement.co.uk, this is the fourth time Hays is listed in the Top 100.
The rankings are based on the reviews of Hays’ undergraduate Interns in the UK who leave feedback based on factors including the skills gained during placements, training and development opportunities and impressions of the company overall.
The culture at Hays is fast-paced, meritocratic and incredibly rewarding. As a business, we have six values that define who we are and what we do. Our expectation is that you display the Hays values from your initial contact with us and throughout your career at Hays.

We are proud to partner with End Youth Homelessness (EYH), a national network of charities working to give vulnerable young people a future.
EYH is a network of 11 member charities across the UK that have joined forces to tackle youth homelessness together. EYH helps more than 30,000 young people each year, providing homes, working with them to secure jobs, and start independent futures.
With 93 offices in the UK, our employees support EYH charities across the country. The money we raise goes directly to EYH’s Employability Fund, which provides homeless young people with individually-tailored support to work towards their career goals, whatever their previous education or work experience.
We will be doing a range of exciting fundraising activities throughout our partnership including sponsored sport challenges, a national sleep out event and a variety of volunteering initiatives which will raise vital funds for homeless young people.
In addition, we’ll be hosting work placements and industry experience days for young people. We‘ll also be taking part in EYH’s Employer Forums, which will bring together national employers with youth homelessness employment practitioners to work towards providing more and better work opportunities for homeless young people.
